Sway analysis is a common way to check balance during standing still. The Matscan® pressure mat was tested to see if it can accurately measure sway. The study involved 26 young adults standing in different positions while their balance was measured. Results showed that the Matscan® was pretty good at measuring balance compared to a more expensive force plate. The pressure mat slightly overestimated some measurements, but overall, it did a good job. This means the Matscan® could be a useful tool for assessing balance in a more affordable and portable way.
