New Study Reveals Improved Design for Baffle-Sluice Gates in Irrigation Systems.
The study looked at how baffle-sluice gates work and found that the discharge coefficients for different gate operation stages can be accurately modeled using existing formulas. The presence of submerged baffles doesn't affect the flow much. The submerged discharge coefficient increases linearly with the bottom opening size, which is different from what was previously recommended. Overall, these findings can help improve the design of baffle-sluice irrigation systems.
