New compound discovered from interaction of chloranil with aliphatic amines!
Chloranil and aliphatic amines usually swap chlorine atoms, but when mixed with pure triethylamine, they form a salt-like product containing a free radical semiquinone ion. This salt breaks down in acetone to create 2,3,5‐trichloro‐6‐(2′‐diethylaminovinyl)‐p‐benzoquinone.
