New F-Weighting System Improves Assessment of High-Level Complex Noise
A new F-weighting method was developed to better evaluate complex noises in military and industrial settings. By blending A-weighting and C-weighting, F-weighting showed improved accuracy in assessing high-level complex noise compared to traditional methods. The use of kurtosis and oscillation coefficient helped determine the weighting coefficients for F-weighting. Animal studies and noise signals from a mining facility confirmed that F-weighting outperformed A-weighting and C-weighting in evaluating complex noise. Additionally, F-weighting-based measurements showed a stronger correlation with hearing loss in animals compared to other weighting methods. This new F-weighting approach could be a valuable tool for assessing high-level complex noise in various applications.
