The study compared two statistical tests, the Student t test and the Wilcoxon rank sum test, using computer simulations. Results showed that the Wilcoxon test was better at maintaining error rates when data was not normally distributed. It also had higher statistical power and made fewer mistakes when the null hypothesis was false. Unequal sample sizes made these advantages even more significant.
