A new method was developed to improve binary phase-only filters by reducing their edge-enhanced impulse response. The technique involves multiplying the object used to create the filter by a random binary pattern before constructing the filter. The experiments conducted showed that this approach effectively smoothed out the edge-enhanced response of the filters.
