New study challenges understanding of first interval skin conductance responses!
The study looked at whether the first response in skin conductance conditioning is a result of pairing a conditioned stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus. The researchers discussed different control procedures and found that the data is mixed due to varying habituation rates. However, they concluded that in simple conditioning experiments, the first response may not always reflect the stimulus pairing. But in more complex experiments, it does show that the first response does reflect the pairing of stimuli.
