New technique revolutionizes gas reservoir modeling using seismic data.
Seismic data was used to create 3-D porosity models for the Yacheng 13-1 Gas Field. A new method was developed to combine seismic data with well-log data to better understand the reservoir. By correlating porosity with inverted seismic impedance, researchers were able to generate more accurate porosity models. These models were compared with those created using only well-log data or seismic amplitude data, showing the effectiveness of the new approach. This integration of geological and geophysical data provides a way to improve reservoir descriptions and can be updated easily with new information.
