Brazilian fish lack essential fatty acids, impacting health and nutrition.
The study looked at the fat content and types of fatty acids in different types of fish commonly eaten in Brazil. They found that freshwater fish had more C-16 fatty acids compared to marine fish. Freshwater fish had higher levels of oleic acid, while marine fish had more eicosapentaenoic and docosahexaenoic acids. Sardine and manjuba were the best sources of healthy n-3 fatty acids among the marine fish studied.
