The article explores how setting goals to reduce emissions in agriculture affects the cost of carbon and how farmers respond in Scotland. They used a computer model to look at different farm situations and strategies. The results show that when the emissions cut target is higher and more farmers don't meet it on their own farms, the price of carbon goes up. Also, farmers who use methods to cut emissions on their farms and then sell any extra credits they don't need end up with a little extra money.
