Tropical Ocean Rainfall Patterns Unveiled: Morning Showers, Evening Dry Spells
The study looked at how rainfall changes throughout the day in the tropical Pacific and Atlantic Oceans from 1997 to 2001. They used special rain gauges on buoys to measure the amount, intensity, and frequency of rain. The results showed that there are clear patterns in rainfall, with the most rain falling in the early morning and the least in the evening. Rain intensity and frequency also follow this pattern. Afternoon rain peaks were also seen in some places, mostly linked to heavy rain. The findings match what other studies have found about how rain varies throughout the day in tropical regions.
