Climate change altering forest life cycles in Southern India, study finds.
The researchers studied the timing of leaf growth, flower blooming, and fruit ripening in two types of forests in southern India. In dry forests, leaves start growing in April after a period of no leaves, while in evergreen forests, leaves grow in January. Flowers bloom from January to June in dry forests and from November to March in evergreen forests. Fruits ripen from March to December in dry forests, with a peak in August and November, and from January to July in evergreen forests, with a peak in April.
