Multinomial models used for psychological data with small sample sizes may not always give accurate results. A simulation study was conducted to compare different estimation methods and goodness-of-fit statistics for these models. The study found that the maximum likelihood estimation method and log-likelihood ratio statistic are not always the best choices. The goal was to determine which methods and statistics work best for specific models and sample sizes.
