Simple travel demand model may lead to highly inaccurate transportation predictions
The study compared two models used to predict travel choices. The simpler model, called multinomial logit, can give inaccurate results compared to the more complex model, multinomial probit. However, the logit model can still provide accurate estimates of certain aspects of the probit model, even when the choice probabilities are different. Including specific variables in the logit model does not always improve accuracy.
