Cement-soil strength boosted under high pressure conditions, paving way for stability.
The study looked at how adding cement affects the strength of soil under different conditions. They found that stress paths have little impact on the strength of cement-soil. Under low pressure, it acts like compacted soil that expands when stressed, but under high pressure, it behaves differently. The strength of cement-soil increases with pressure, and the type of test affects the strength. The ratio of residual strength to peak strength also changes with pressure. Overall, the tests showed that the effective stress envelope of the two types of tests is very similar.
