Climate change and human activities reshape vegetation cover in southern China.
The study looked at how vegetation in hilly southern China has changed over 11 years due to climate change and human activities. Using satellite data, researchers found that vegetation cover increased slightly during the growing season. Most areas showed improved vegetation, especially in ecological restoration zones. However, extreme weather events in 2009 and 2010 had negative effects on vegetation in some parts of the region. The study suggests using drought-resistant plants in future ecological projects and considering eco-risk assessments before introducing new species.
