New Study Reveals Settling Velocity of Sediment in Estuary Impacts Water Quality
The study looked at how sediment settles in an estuary by analyzing sediment data from the Changjiang River in China. They found that the sediment can be divided into cohesive sediments and that the Rouse formula is the best way to estimate the settling velocity of fine sediment. Other formulas underestimated the settling velocity because they didn't consider how fine sediment clumps together in the estuary.
