The article presents a method to speed up adding large numbers in cryptography and other fields. By dividing the numbers into groups and using carry look-ahead, the delay in adding is reduced. The addition is then completed by predicting carries between groups. This method keeps the delay constant even with data widths over 1024 bits. The researchers found that by comparing carry states instead of transferring them, the delay in adding does not increase with larger data widths.
