Revolutionizing construction: New method predicts bending stiffness of composite beams.
The study looked at how strong graphite-epoxy I-beams are when bent. They tested beams made of this material with different designs. By bending the beams and measuring how they moved, they figured out how stiff they were. They found that two methods they used to calculate stiffness were both accurate. This means we can predict how strong composite beams will be when bent.
