The article discusses how to make sure a product meets its goals by validating its design against requirements. To do this for complex products, a formal model for requirements and design is proposed. The Core Product Model and Open Assembly Model are introduced to represent the design solution. By linking these models, tools can automatically validate if a product design meets its requirements.
