They found that shorter wheat varieties had bigger yield losses from grazing compared to taller ones. In non-grazed fields, shorter varieties did better, increasing yield with more plant growth. But in grazed fields, taller varieties did just as well as shorter ones under less productive conditions. This shows that the type of wheat and the grazing system can affect grain yield differently.
