Composting with effective microbes can speed up the process of turning yard and food waste into nutrient-rich soil. By using two types of effective microbes, researchers found that the compost reached maturity in just 7 weeks. The pH levels were neutral, the C:N ratio was suitable for agriculture, and the compost had low levels of heavy metals, making it safe for use in farming. The Takakura effective microbe was particularly effective in reducing composting time.
