Stormwater wetlands save water, improve ecosystems, and reduce potable water demand!
Constructed stormwater treatment wetlands are effective in removing pollutants from runoff. This study looked at a wetland's impact on the ecosystem and hydrology. By using rainwater and harvesting stormwater, households can save up to 36% of potable water. The wetland intercepts rainfall, improving downstream ecosystem health. Harvesting stormwater can also help vegetation survive better in the wetland.
