New Study Reveals Key to Controlling Urban Runoff Pollution Sources
Urban runoff pollution is mainly caused by sediment from roads, which affects the quality of rainwater in cities. Different types of land use produce different pollutants in this sediment. Heavy metals in the sediment vary depending on the size of the particles. The sources of pollutants in road-deposited sediment have been identified. A control strategy called I-T-G (Idea-Technology-Goal) has been suggested to manage stormwater pollution effectively. Additionally, a technology for managing urban stormwater pollution has been proposed based on local conditions.
