Coal gasification process generates high-purity hydrogen for clean energy production.
Hydrogen can be made from coal through a process called gasification. Scientists studied how to make high-purity hydrogen from coal in a lab-scale gasifier. They found that by partially burning coal, they could create a gas with a lot of hydrogen in it. By gasifying 220 kg of coal at high temperatures and pressure, they could generate a lot of thermal energy and electrical power. This method could be a clean and efficient way to produce energy from coal.
