Linseed-fed cows produce healthier meat with increased omega-3 fatty acids
Linseed, a source of healthy fats, was fed to cows in different forms to see how it affects their digestion. Rolled linseed, extruded linseed, and linseed oil were compared to a regular diet. The study found that extruded seeds and oil increased certain types of fats in the cows' digestion, while rolled seeds did not have the same effect. The digestibility of fats in the cows' intestines was slightly higher with the regular diet and linseed oil compared to the other forms of linseed. Overall, the different forms of linseed had varying effects on the cows' digestion and the types of fats present.
