Emissions trading schemes could transform global climate policy landscape
The article classifies characteristics of emissions trading schemes into four categories: objectives, target groups, rules-influencing mechanisms, and implementation network. This classification was used to design a Hellenic emissions trading scheme and study its interactions with other climate policies in Greece. The results show that this classification system helps define the basic characteristics of the Hellenic scheme and distinguish it from other national schemes. In conclusion, the classification system simplifies the design of an emissions trading scheme.
