The study looked at how the rat pituitary gland responds to a hormone called TRH. They found that after being exposed to TRH for 20 hours, the gland became less sensitive to TRH, affecting the release of TSH but not prolactin. This means that prolonged exposure to TRH can make the pituitary gland less responsive to TRH stimulation.
