The discovery of ancient tools like Dalton and Quad projectile points in west-central Mississippi shows that people lived in that area during the early Archaic period. These artifacts were found on the flood plains of the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, which are remnants of the landscape from before the end of the Ice Age.
