The article discusses how small-quantity hazardous waste generators in Florida produce and manage hazardous waste. These generators produce less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month. Around 117,000 metric tonnes of hazardous waste are produced annually, with a significant amount being waste oils. Half of this waste is managed through recycling, treatment, and disposal in permitted facilities. However, a large portion is disposed of in landfills and public sewers not equipped to handle hazardous waste. This improper management poses potential environmental and human health risks in Florida and across the U.S.A.
