Oxidizing treatment boosts Photosystem II reactions, paving the way for greener energy.
Treatment with the oxidant K2 IrCl6 destroys half of the chlorophyll in chloroplast fragments, but the fragments still have Photosystem II activity. They show a strong light-induced free-radical signal linked to the reaction-center chlorophyll P680, but the absorbance change related to the primary electron acceptor C-550 is missing.
