Revolutionizing Nutrition: Strategies to Combat Micronutrient Malnutrition by 2000 AD
Micronutrient malnutrition, like vitamin A, iron, and iodine deficiencies, is a serious health issue. The main strategies to tackle this problem are giving people supplements, adding nutrients to food, and promoting the growth and consumption of nutrient-rich foods. In India, current programs focus on short-term solutions like giving out supplements and fortifying salt with iodine. However, these efforts have not made a significant impact. Challenges include lack of coordination, resources, and education. To effectively address this issue, a comprehensive approach involving education, community involvement, fortification, and surveillance is needed.
