Crop Diversification Boosts Productivity and Profits for Farmers in Asia
Crop diversification in rice-wheat farming can increase productivity and profitability. Replacing wheat with potato or clover, and adding mungbean in the summer, led to higher yields and profits. Systems like rice-potato-mungbean and rice-clover were more productive and profitable than traditional rice-wheat. These diversified systems also showed better land use efficiency. Overall, diversifying rice-wheat cropping systems is recommended for sustainable production.
