People more likely to judge good behavior than bad, study finds.
People tend to assume negative mental states from bad behavior, but positive and negative mental states from good behavior. This was shown in a study where participants remembered real-life actions and guessed the actors' thoughts. They were more likely to think positively about good actions than bad ones. This suggests that we tend to make more varied assumptions about people's thoughts when they do something good.
