This article examines how well current methods can assess sustainability at a regional level. Various assessment tools were tested in South East Queensland to see if they could measure progress towards sustainability. The methods like ecological footprint, wellbeing assessment, and ecosystem health assessment did not effectively capture sustainability progress at the regional scale. This indicates the need for a new method to evaluate regional sustainability accurately.
