Algae Sagarssum sp. biomass can be converted to bio-oil and gas!
Alga Sagarssum sp. can be turned into bio-oil, gas, and char by heating it up in a process called pyrolysis. The researchers studied how Sagarssum sp. breaks down when heated, finding that most of it decomposes between 200 and 350 °C. As the pyrolysis progresses, the energy needed for the reaction to occur increases. The results suggest that Sagarssum sp. mainly turns into bio-oil rather than gas during pyrolysis.
