Omega-3 Supplements May Treat Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults
The study aimed to see how high doses of flax or fish oil affect fatty acid levels in adults with ADHD. Flax oil increased alpha-linolenic acid and slightly lowered the AA/EPA ratio. Fish oil raised EPA, DHA, and total omega-3 levels, and lowered the AA/EPA ratio to levels seen in high fish-eating populations. This suggests that high dose fish oil may be better than flax oil for increasing EPA and DHA levels in adults with ADHD.
