Agile development processes are being used by many organizations to speed up development and adapt to changing requirements. The transition to agile can happen quickly or gradually. Lessons from two transitions show that agile can work for embedded software, but challenges include managing different team sizes and competencies. Large organizations may struggle to be agile due to work allocation issues. Skilled developers are needed for successful agile development, which should combine new and old practices.
