The article evaluates different biomass energy technologies in China using a model based on Analytic Hierarchy Process. Three criteria and nine indicators are used to assess the technologies. Results show that environmental factors and resource availability are key factors in the success of biomass technologies. Integrated technologies that are compatible with local environments are most effective. This information can help guide the future development of biomass energy in China.
