Linking security with development could harm global poverty reduction efforts

Not only the US but also some development organizations and donors have changed their approach to development due to security issues. This connection between security and development is not new, dating back to the Cold War. However, the current context has seen a shift in how development is seen as a way to address threats from the global South to the North. If security for the North becomes the main focus of development in the South, it could harm global poverty reduction and security efforts.
