The Green-Ampt equation for water infiltration into soil has limitations, so a new model was developed. The Mein-Larson model tried to fix these limitations but underestimated ponding time and infiltration. A better modification was proposed, where ponding time is based on soil's infiltration capacity. This new model can handle different rainfall rates and soil types, improving our understanding of water infiltration in various environments.
