Data shortages in Ukraine lead to bad resource management practices.
The researchers aimed to improve soil information in the Western Bug Basin, Ukraine, where limited data hinders accurate modeling of hydro-ecological processes. They used a fuzzy logic method based on terrain analysis and soil sampling to fill in missing soil texture data. By applying this method, they were able to estimate soil properties needed for watershed modeling, despite the lack of comprehensive soil maps. The study showed that their approach successfully addressed the data shortages and improved the accuracy of soil information for better resource management in the region.
