New method boosts accuracy of image filters, enhancing visual quality.
A new method was developed to make image filtering more accurate by using a special type of histogram called intensity-stacked histogram. This histogram stores the sum of intensity values for each bin in an image. By applying this new histogram to certain image filters, like median and bilateral filters, the filters work better with fewer bins. The accuracy of these filters using intensity-stacked histogram is higher compared to using a standard histogram.
