Hybrid upland rice cultivar boosts productivity in Southern Brazil.
The researchers tested different types of upland rice in two locations in Brazil to see which ones grew best. They found that the hybrid Ecco rice did the best in terms of growing more tillers, having more panicles, and producing more grains. The town of Cerejeiras was the best place to grow upland rice because it had higher productivity and grain yield. Vilhena had more sterile grains per panicle. Overall, the hybrid Ecco rice stood out as the top performer among all the cultivars tested.
