Common sunflowers show greater photosynthesis potential than showy sunflowers.
The researchers studied two types of sunflowers to see how they control the tiny openings on their leaves (stomata) during photosynthesis. They found that the common sunflower had more control over its stomata compared to the showy sunflower. This means that the common sunflower could adjust its photosynthesis better under normal conditions. The differences in how the two sunflowers manage their stomata might be linked to their unique characteristics.
