New study finds organic zinc boosts growth in Atlantic salmon.
The researchers compared two different forms of zinc, zinc gluconate, and zinc sulfate, as dietary sources for Atlantic salmon. They fed the fish diets with different zinc levels for 6 months and monitored their growth, mortality, and feed conversion. They measured the fish's zinc status by analyzing whole-body zinc concentration, vertebral zinc concentration, and serum zinc levels. The study aimed to determine which form of zinc was more effective in improving the fish's zinc status.
