Hormone-regulating compound could revolutionize thyroid treatment for millions.
N-Acetylserotonin (NAS) was tested on male rats to see how it affects their thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels. The rats were injected with NAS and then checked at different times. Results showed that NAS lowered TSH levels in the rats after injection, compared to control rats that got a saltwater injection. This suggests that NAS could stop the body from making as much TSH as usual.
