Social capital in South Korea linked to lower political trust levels.
The study looked at how social connections and trust affect people's trust in politics in South Korea. They found that being involved in groups and trusting others actually led to less trust in political institutions and less commitment to voting. This was because people saw political corruption and other problems in the government, which made them less likely to engage in politics. So, having social connections and trust doesn't always make people more involved in politics in South Korea.
