Burn Victims May Avoid Heart Disease with Omega-3 and Omega-6 Supplements
The study looked at how different types of oils rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids affect the cardiovascular system of rabbits with burn injuries. Rabbits fed with MaxEPA oil had higher levels of beneficial fatty acids in their blood and platelets. Those given a combination of MaxEPA and soybean oil had lower levels of certain fatty acids. Overall, rabbits supplemented with MaxEPA oil showed more positive changes in their blood and platelet fatty acid levels compared to those given soybean oil. These changes could potentially lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in burn patients.
