Manufacturing organizations need to adapt quickly to changes in their environment to survive and grow. This study used information theory to develop models that determine how to maximize flexibility in flexible manufacturing systems. The models show how to distribute workloads on flexible manufacturing cells and the probability of a job being processed by a specific cell.
